Imperials in Modesto!

"I" street in Modesto was closed off on Saturday, May 6, 2000 and 51 Imperials lined up for the show part of the 17th Annual Imperial Owners California Statewide Meet & Show.  It was a great spectacle, enjoyed by club members, other car fans and the general populace of Modesto.  Some owners traveled quite far for the show - Dietmar Frensemeyer from Germany,  Chris Hawkins from Atlanta and Mike Clayberg from DC.  Norm & Louise Hall are members of the SCIO and make the trek out to the California meets nearly every year from Lambertville, MI.

Great to see such enthusiasm and it was great to meet Dietmar, Mike & Chris for the first time!

Dietmar has posted the first set of pictures on his web site, http://www.movit.de/htm/impmod.htm.  A panoramic view of the meet is on this site, taken by this author, Bob Schmitt

Award Groups: Imperials will be awarded by year (lst, 2nd and 3rd), unless only one car for a year is entered, in which case it may be placed with the next closest year category of a similar body style (e.g. ‘57-58).  Two or more cars of the same year will warrant a separate category for purposes of awards.

Additional Awards: The Best of Show Perpetual Trophy, the Ken Woods Memorial Trophy (most improved car), Long Distance and Hard-Luck awards will be given.  Nominations for the Ken Woods Memorial Trophy should be sent to the Southern California Club, attention: Bob Schmitt, 355 N. Maple, # 201, Burbank, CA 91505.

Trailered, Incomplete and Inoperative Cars: All cars entered for competition shall be driven under their own power onto the show field.  Incomplete and inoperative cars will not be included in the show but may be displayed at the nearby motel parking lot.

Ballots: Will be issued one ballot per car entry and must be turned in no later than 2 p.m. Saturday to be counted.  Ballots shall be counted by a ballot committee consisting of one representative appointed by the president of each club. The representative of the host club shall serve as chair of the ballot committee.  In the event of a tie for any category, the ballot committee shall request a judge be appointed from each club to judge the cars in question, break the tie, and report a winner to the ballot committee.

Deadline Disclosure

Awards must be ordered in advance by category.  Thus we may not be able to offer show awards to cars entered after the April 15, 2000 registration deadline, depending upon the category. Please send in your registration by April 15th to avoid these problems.
